Cascadilla Creek Gorge links downtown Ithaca and the Cornell campus. Feel like some real exercise? Take a strenuous 1.3 mile hike through the gorge.

 

There are 3 New York State Parks in the Ithaca area that offer gorge walks, camping, playgrounds and swimming.

•  Buttermilk Falls State Park
Buttermilk Falls State Park takes its name from the foaming cascade formed by Buttermilk Creek as it flows down the steep valley toward Cayuga Lake.   Map

•  Robert H. Treman State Park
Robert H. Treman State Park is an area of wild beauty, with the rugged gorge called Enfield Glen as its scenic highlight. Winding trails follow the gorge past 12 waterfalls. Map  

•  Taughannock Falls State Park
Taughannock Falls State Park's waterfall is one of the outstanding natural attractions of the Northeast. Taughannock Falls plunges 215 feet past rocky cliffs. Map
