Rose Mitchell, Executive Director, Women's Foundation of the Genesee Valley and Kathy King, Chair of the WFGV Research Committee, reported on findings of recent research conducted on the economic status of women in Rochester and the seven surrounding counties. Program: What Grantmakers Want

Lunch with grantmaking colleagues and participation in an interactive program with Dana Gavenda, Board Member, as Master of Ceremonies lead participants through a survey of members, how their grantmaking is conducted, what would help them in their own philanthropic endeavors. Participants used Audience Response System equipment to give anonymous answers. Claire Heffernan gave instant, visual analysis of member responses. An open discussion about grantmaking practices in the Rochester area followed.

Rochester Effectiveness Partnership: Community Conference

For seven years, Rochester Effectiveness Partnership taught and coached area nonprofits and funders. Over 250 individuals were involved in this unique collaboration to study participatory evaluation with professional evaluators and apply their learning to increase the effectiveness of their work. The Partnership completed a final evaluation of the collaboration itself. Guest speakers spoke on capacity-building programs around the U.S. to increase effectiveness.

The Forum was a huge success. Dr. James Austin and a knowledgeable panel provided their time and expertise.  Participants gave the "overall event" an average rating of 4.2 out of 5. Speakers received an average rating of 4.5.
